An Attitude of Gratitude

7 March 2008
I have heard this phrase for a long time growing up, but it is a true statement. Our attitude as followers of Christ matters. Question...what should our attitude be like? Let me focus our attention on Phillipians 4:8 which reads, "Finally brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whateer is commendable - if there is any moral excellence and if there is any praise - dwell on these things. As a follower of Christ, let us dwell on the right things and make an impact on those we come in contact with today.

3:16 - The Number of Hope

28 February 2008
As we journey through the book from Max Lucado "3:16 - The Number of Hope", I am drawn close to the heart of God. Looking at the simplicity, yet complexity of this one verse has been great. Understanding God's love for me, a sinner, is overwhelming at times. But God do loved me that He sent His ONE AND ONLY son, Jesus. To me that is so overwhelming! Lord, thank you for your love and how you consistanly show your grace in my life. Teach me today how to respond to this verse with a life of service!

2008 - Pressing Forward

2 January 2008
What a fantastic Christmas break! I know many of you stayed around town, but our family was busy visiting BOTH sides of the family this Christmas, from here, to Huntsville, to Houston, to Dallas, then McKinney then back to Lubbock. Man, I need a vacation from my vacation! Can you relate! Well, with the New Year comes a freshness. I sometimes refer to this time as a benchmark of new beginnings. We cannot change the past, whether good or bad, but we can be hopeful for a bright and refreshing future. I resonate with the words of Paul, where he expresses in Philippians 3:12-14, “Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already been made perfect, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. Brothers, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.” God’s richest blessing are in store for all of us as we seek Him out. As 2008 is here, let us unite our hearts as a body of Christ and press on FORWARD to the goal to win the prize which God has called us to in Christ Jesus. I count it a blessing and joy to enter this race with you this year.

A Night of Miracles

4 December 2007
It has been 2 months since I last logged in to communicate with you. It has been a little busy, to say the least, preparing for this year's Christmas Musical and just simply keeping up with the daily ministry oppotunites I have at FBC. Speaking of Christmas, I wanted to share with you the heartbeat of our musical, "A Night of Miracles". It was created to tell the greatest story in the world. It is based and centered on the birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He is more than a fictional story…He is THE story of life, hope and love for all of mankind. My challenge in telling the story is to make it clear to everyone why Jesus was born. Reading Luke 2 makes it clear that He came to take away the sins of the world. As you enter the December month, remember that Jesus came for you, so return to Him with a heart of celebration and worship the Christ this Christmas.
