Create a fun, exciting and dynamic atmosphere for Preteens to discover, investigate, and act upon God's Truth.

The Preteen Ministry at First Baptist Church is different and unique to anything our preteens have experienced in Sunday School before. Our preteens are preteens, not children and not youth. They are special and unique and we have created “PRETEEN CITY” just for them – a place that is fun, dynamic, exciting, and where God’s Word is taught, investigated, and acted upon. Our GRAPPLE lessons help our preteens make the connection between Bible stories they have known for years and how they are relevant in our preteen’s lives today.
At FBC, our preteens are loved and valued with age-appropriate activities organized to prepare them for leadership. They are given responsibility, minister in our church and in our community, interact with their peers, and are growing deeper spiritually. They minister through Ministry Teams, Puppet Teams, Drama/Skit Teams, and through participating in Praise and Worship.
Our Preteen leaders are strong Christian role models, dedicated, faithful, loving, caring, and devoted to our preteens in teaching them God’s Truth. They desire that our preteens have a personal, dynamic relationship with Jesus Christ and strive to guide them toward that goal.

Ministry Team—One Sunday a month, we send Preteen Ministry teams to our preschool and younger grade levels to be teacher assistants. Our preteens learn leadership skills and the value of being a mentor and sharing knowledge they themselves have learned.
Mission Projects—We provide assorted mission projects for our Preteen Division as well as smaller ones our individual classes can participate in throughout the year. These projects are in our local community, as well as world-wide through our missionaries. This helps our preteens know they are involved world-wide, even though they remain in Lubbock.
Puppet Ministry—Our preteens learn the gift of ministering through puppets. Teams will minister to preteens, younger children and preschool, as opportunities present themselves. They will also be available to minister at special events for our community.
Drama / Skit Ministry—Our preteens learn the gift of ministering through drama. Teams will minister to preteens, younger children and preschool as opportunities present themselves. They will also be available to minister at special events for our community.
Solo / Praise & Worship Music—Preteens who have music ability or desire to present their talents may do so on 4th and 5th Sunday’s. This develops their God-given abilities and encourages their confidence as they are entering middle school.
